The city of Luverne will use grant funds to outfit patrol vehicles with updated computers to assist officers in processing information and filing reports more quickly. Funds will also be used to purchase an updated computer for the department’s squad room.

β€œPolice officers need access to the most up-to-date equipment possible to ensure they can protect residents and themselves while on the job,” Ivey said. β€œI am pleased to assist the city of Luverne in making officers’ jobs more efficient.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grant from funds made available by the U.S. Department of Justice. ADECA manages a wide range of programs that support law enforcement, economic development, infrastructure upgrades, recreation, energy conservation, water resources management and career development.

β€œADECA joins Gov. Ivey in supporting our state’s law enforcement officers who protect and serve all of us,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. β€œThrough this grant, the Luverne Police Department will equip officers with up-to-date computers to make it easier to perform essential job duties.”
